Respawning Monsters :(

I don't know how many of you are playing Etrian Odyssey. But FOEs are the game's wandering monsters. They're mean, strong and can join a battle all ready in progress. Ugly. Apparently FOE stands for Foedus Obrepit Errabundus, or foul wandering creature who sneaks up for surprise buttsehx. The first FOE in the game is the Ragelope, who many gamers have already nicknamed Rapelope. If you plan on exploring the labyrinth bring your own lube.

This game is tough! I have actually put in some time and am only now ready to move on to level three. The Ragelope is nasty if he gets a few confusions to land on your guys.

I've had great success against the FOEs by comboing my Survivalist's Trickery with my Protector's front guard. I made it to Fenris, but got totally destroyed by his guards -- three of them jumped into the fight. So if you make it that far, be sure to lure Fenris into one of his far alcoves before engaging him.

I find it's useful to useful to prolong the long walk to level three long enough to get you whole party ready to Boost. It makes the FOEs down there much more manageable.

Is there a level threshold for boost or do you just charge it up?

Your boost charges as you beat stuff up. With minimal wandering you can be ready to boost by the time you get to the second staircase down.

If nothing else, using your boost will get your protector's flee ability over the threshold to work vs. the scythers.

I think I died so much during the first three levels that I never saw my Boost charge all the way. I didn't realize you could boost to help Flee work better. I tried to run from my Fenris fight, but failed.
