This is F***ing Awesome

There is a not so hard and fast rule in my house: no swearing. It gets gray when we are enjoying spoken word and music. If it isn't gratuitous I let it slide, to a point. This morning, on the way home from church mind you, Kya introduced me to Macklemore. I should have known when she hesitated, "He doesn't swear that much."
This guy is good.
Give him a listen.

Damn, that's a cold-ass honkey.

Dock's Not the Only One

I know we all think Dock's a freak for eating Takis, but this tune demonstrates that he isn't alone.

I saw this video highlighted on some wee-hours news program last night and then saw it on the internet a couple places (IHC among them) today, and figured it must be a thing.

You Might as Well Hold on To Your Socks

You might be able to keep them from getting knocked off. You'll never keep your mind from being blown, however, by this video for a song from Christopher Lee's first heavy metal album. His follow-up effort is forthcoming.

Ain't No Rest for The Wicked

Pre-order for Borderlands 2 just hit Steam, in case you're interested in playing on PC. If you already have the original on Steam, wait for the weekend and get 10% off. Pre-ordering gets you access to a fifth class (which will be available as DLC for those who don't pre-order), though what am I going on about? You all have Steam installed and can read the Store page for yourselves.

Reboot

Not only is this worth your time on it's own, I'm pretty sure that guy at the beginning is Elvis Prestello.

4D on the 4th

Posted for your consideration: an oldie but a goodie.

Additionally, please note that Seth McFarlane (The "Family Guy" guy) has a remake of Cosmos in motion with Neil deGrasse Tyson on board. I'm pretty excited about that.

Check out Soul Eater if you haven't already.

My boys got me hooked on Soul Eater via NetFlix. I was doing that parenting thing where you check in with what the kids are doing these days and employ some choice architecture for a subtle course correction. Now we (I) can't stop watching it. It has some of the best bad guys since The Last Air-Bender. It goes from silly to serious; episodic to periods where nothing happens. It tackles adult themes with corny teen-age titles... They swear a bit and work for Lord Death, but that is okay because it is a new Lord Death.

Imagine Gorillaz doing an emo album - and doing it well because that is what they do. We can't stop pressing, "play next episode."

Video Games and Photography and ...

... Sin!
Well, and an 8 year old too, but whatever.
I recommend reading this article from Kill Sceen Magazine. If you read that one and the article about E. T. and BSDM too you can relive the vibe you got when you found someone elses stack of Easyriders, for the first time, as a kid. But anyway, what I am really here to ask is that one of you buy me this book, The Forty-Deuce - or, even better, buy it for yourself and then leave it around for me to find.

I'm pretty sure the Beastie Boys rapped about the area at some point...

N.S.F.T.

Not Safe For Tim.

Although I encourage you to watch them all in order, this one, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles one and the Batman one are not to be missed.

The Cabin in the Woods

Go see this movie now.  Don't read anything else about it.  Go unspoiled.

It was the best experience I've had in a theater since The Matrix.
