Barn Again

I like the title of this post and program because it is from such a different time. A time when Christians " " were just wierd. Unlike today where they are jingoistic cocks. But anyway ...
I just caught the end of a program on one of TPT's HD channels. I thought about Andy and wonder what he would have to say. It will be on again early this morning:

Barn Again!
Friday, February 27, 2:00 AM on MN

It was filmed in the late 80's and is all about restoring old barns and updating them to the needs of the day. There was tears and stuff.

Check out the National Trust for Historic Preservation site(s) for some things us city folk probably don't know about.

Another Rock Band Request

For the ladies, of course. Introducing Ida Maria. Gus might like the visual style of this video if not the music. See especially the bananas or just appreciate the song's title.

Stench Kow

This has been around for a bit, but if any of you have seen it, I'm angry at you for not sharing.

Welcome Tim, to tonight's episode of This is Your Gaming Life.

Coming in at five minutes is a little long but the produciton is pretty good. Having played with the tools this video is a testament to some one's patience.

This can be pretty hard to watch if you have fond memories of random battles that take place turn by excruciating turn.

The debate over "real" RTS'

There has been chatter of late over the new/old, real/fake, hardcore/gimp RTS genre. This was brought on by the HALO WARS demo which is worth a look if you haven't played it already. But anyway, I believe all sides are missing the point.

Why Apple Sucks

The next time you need some legitimate reasons to bag on Apple, you could do worse than starting with this article at Daring Fireball. The part about the standard headphone jack is particularly galling. Gross.

LEGO knows what they're doing.

Dock and AVK, I don't know if your boys are into LEGO's still or at all or yet but the world of LEGO has become, is still(?), a well produced entry into geekdom. It even reinforces my adult geekdom. (Sorry Wolf, 'Bionicle' is not the title of a story about promiscuous eyewear.) All of their products are tied into each other and there was even a cartoon but that failed. And who could forget LEGO Star Wars or Indy or Batman. Anyway, when you buy any LEGO figure or set you are encouraged to visit their site. There you will find all kinds of entry level video games. [This one is not bad at all. Link forthcoming, I have to ask Tiernan where it is.] And now a basic table-top collectable "minis" game. The gem of the game is the movement mechanic.

Between Tiernan and Keegan we may have the whole set.

EVE Online - without the boring parts.

Just a link to a well written blog about one pilots time in EVE online. Especially this entry. Ok, maybe it is more like fan-fiction but this is good fan-fiction. (Gus, no gratuitous fan-service.) You don't even have to start at the beginning. Just jump in and start reading. No previous play experience is necessary.

A Visual Thesaurus

How cool is this? Pick a word and see where it leads you. Pick a word and see where you end up. http://www.visualthesaurus.com/ Very cool.
