Meet the Next Timothy Treadwell

If you didn't see the documentary Grizzly Man I'll bring you up to speed. Treadwell was a self-styled bear expert who stalked, video taped and frequently cavorted with the creatures. He met an inevitable gruesome death. Director Werner Herzog used Treadwell's footage to create a complex examination of the man's life and obsession.

The gent seen above is animal behaviorist Kevin Richardson. The cheeky photoshop is the handiwork of Acksman from the NeoGAF forums.

I say "good for him" that he's living his dream, and I'm sure the dude knows that its probably inevitable if he continues to do this forever.

play with fire...

nonetheless I admire him for that and pray it never happens

Complex my ass, you don't know the half of it and Herzog left it out...surprise!
He could end up as the next Steve or Tim or...the next race car driver, mountain climber, stunt man, parachutist, pilot....etc...

Treadwell wasn't alone when he got killed, he drug some woman along with him. That separates him from people who take risks upon themselves.

The only thing Treadwell was an expert on was how he imagined bears.

%percent agreement with aaron

Treadwell was wrong factually on pretty much everything, but freedom is about the right to make really really dumb choices and say really really dumb stuff.

If he had just got himself 'et by a bar' I'd have said "good riddance to a source of bad information"

Bringing his sometime-parttime-girlfriend with him to get eaten goes a step beyond that

Oh come on...was she really dragged to Alaska to live with the bears? The woman was a Physician's Assistant, she was educated, she was grown and ultimately responsible for her own actions. She paid the greatest price for a poor decision, but the decision was hers. People who fantacize about this kind of stuff is one thing, but put someone in the situation and see how many people actually puss out. Most of us would because common sense tells us that we can't train these animals...they aren't meant to be tamed. Leave them be and stay your a$$ in the city. Live and let live.
