German Word of the Day

Well, the Germans have done it again. In one word, Bildungsroman, they unite two of my guilty pleasures: the coming of age movie and the RPG. Amazing.

I wonder if they have a word for the opposite -- novels about stagnation, say.

There's a word for everything in German. That's why it was such a hot language for philosophy, once upon a time. Take any two nouns, shove them together, TA-DA! Legitimate German word.

I'm a little surprised /The Never-ending Story/ wasn't included in the list of examples in the Wiki article. It would be a particularly German example.
