I deleted your post, Andy. I didn't want someone to open the blog up at work tomorrow morning and have it at the top. You are officially being repressed.

Since when does Andy care about the first amendment (or the 4th or the 5th, for that matter)? His motto is "You can take the other nine", right?

Fortunately, since you aren't the government no amendment was violated here.

Discussion topic: was this comment too obviously a troll?

okay, once they lay in a 9 day waiting period, background check, and require you to get a permit from your sherrif before you can print up some flyers at kinkos, then i'll start worrying about the first amendment

drat that isn't what I want to do!

and for the record, I have some contacts through message boards (think of how well we 'knew' people like LOBT or Madkasel prior to actually meeting them thanks to the GOT message board) who are getting screwed up the rear end and their fourth and fifth amendment rights are being trampled upon. To which I have responded with personal funds to their legal defense bill.

A small industry set up by gulf war vets who are creating items marketed to police and law enforcement get hit with a search warrant so wide you can drive a truck through, simply because the ATF knows it has 120 days to prove it's case before all seized items are returned, and most businesses today with such tight inventories cannot last 120 days when you seize all their goods and paperwork....all because some clerk in AZ misread Cavalry as Calvary, and entered that name into their business database (even though the paper documents were in order) which was the basis of the search warrant

Also two seperate guys in Kalifornia I have sent money to legal defense bills when their speech specifically was cited for why they were targeted for undue prosecution and illegal search and seizures. Again, funds sent to legal defense funds.

I know people who have been vocal in getting concealed carry laws changed to allow students with permits to carry on campus, who had police storm their homes based on PICTURES they posted in Myspace because from the PICTURES the police were unable to determine if some of their personal firearms were legal (even though anyone with a brain could pick out the kalifornia feature alterations) People who spent a month in jail only to have the case dropped at the end by the district attourney, after threatening with dragging extremely minor unrelated issues through the court system to prevent countersuit by the parties in question.

The "trick" used to hang their ass was the equivalent of me hearing you say you support legalization of weed, then, I go into your bathroom and see your bottle of babypowder (Aaron, we all know you have chaffing issues) I then call the police and claim that the white powder is drugs, based on you being for legalizaiton of weed, another drug. Now, the police show, and as long as they don't actually run a drug test on the white powder in the babypowder bottle, they are legally able to charge you with drug possession...and they are legally protected from any sort of action you may take because they are cops, and not chemists nor doctors, and cannot be expert in all areas EVEN EXTREMELY OBVIOUS ONES. I see 4th and 5th amendment issues when such tricks are applied, when police knowingly claim lack of knowledge to haul someone into custody to basically force that person's hand. And then the next person is afraid to speak up lest he be overzealously prosecuted.

It's like that old 'smash the breaklight' trick the cops used to do, except now they just squeeze their eyes closed so they can claim "it appeared to me his break lights were not functioniong" and drag them off to jail.

All the rights are interconnected. If speech is used to key in on an individual for illegal search and seizure, isn't that trampling on the fourth AND the first? If a person cannot speak of support for the 2nd, for fear of unfair prosecution and illegal search and seizure, don't we have infringement of First, Second, AND Fourth?

Look, even if you don't agree with someone's stance on concealed carry on a college campus, you ALL should be worried when multiple armed police are pulling people from class based on myspace profiles. This isn't kids getting suspended from sports for posting party pictures, this is police illegally searching personal property, with ZERO "Terry Stop" application.

For clarity: the part where I wrote "Discussion topic: was this comment too obviously a troll?" was meant to communicate that I wasn't serious.

I thought it was clear, and sincerely apologize for any confusion.
