One Laptop Per Child

In one of our late night debates, I found myself arguing for reapportioning funds from public libraries to free computers and wireless. I was not aware that someone who knew what he was talking about was actually working on a version of it:

By the way, all of the TED talks I've heard have are both interesting and well-delivered.

Are libraries really eating up that much public funding? Besides, we should keep 'em around and just change the name on the outside to "Book Museum" -- imagine all the future space money that'll save.

Truth is I have no idea how much public money is spent on them. I think the original argument was a joke, but I'm not sure.

Giving away laptops would solve the problem of homeless guys looking at porn in the library -- which wouldn't have happened if every city in the country hadn't cleaned up their red-light districts and cracked down on all the shenanigans going on in those peep show booths.
