Building A Better Enterprise
Here's a new picture of the ship in dry dock, I'm assuming prior to its maiden voyage. Can't wait for some hot Pike-on-Kirk action. The new teaser for the J.J. Abrams reboot is running with Cloverfield (which is great, take a Dramamine, though) starting Friday and should be online Monday.

Why do the Enterprise's engine nacelles look like giant turbines? I thought they were far beyond jet power at this point.
Those are the bussard ramscoops for collecting materials in space. They're usually covered by a hood or grill.
Hmmm, okay. That's a little bit of Trek trivia I didn't know. Never mind that the fan blades wouldn't actually do anything as you need the particulates to be in a fluid medium like air for blades to work.
