Why is it so many great artists be they writers, musicians, etc are so tortured? Is that a prereq for being great at their art?
Hose- I think being tortured makes you more likely to have something interesting to say and, in some cases, even provides an impetus to say it well. Commencing honorary Nethack crawl for the dead (during the full moon, no less).
